For all of January I am being featured as part of Gray Street Workshops Calendar Girls project. Follow the link below to see my first time lapse video, images and some writing. GSW will post more during the month.
In GSW own words…. ‘Calendar Girls is a year-long project celebrating the practices of 12 talented alumni and current tenants of Gray Street Workshop that have contributed to its rich history. The project culminates in The Calendar Girls exhibition held in our gallery during the 2016 Adelaide Festival.’
This was such an interesting project to be part of, we were given a time lapse camera for a month each plus a number of questions to respond to in relation to the theme To capture an often over looked aspect of the making process; the detail and intimacy of time.
In some ways it was quite confronting, it being rare for me to share my making head/space with others and in such a close proximity. Surprisingly, I revelled in writing in response to the questions asked by GSW, yet I found beginning the shooting of the time lapse caused anxiety, followed by some doubt and questioning of my processes, which was totally unexpected as I had been looking forward to this . So turns out this project was as much an insight into my practice for me as it is for anyone else.
